The revised boundaries of the 212 area code w ill include all customers in Manhattan and the Bronx. The new 718 area code w ill include all customers in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. All of the existing seven d ig it telephone numbers w ill remain the same, and there w ill be no change in the rates as a result of the new area code. The only change is the addition of the 718 area code. Calls incorrectly dialed using only the seven digit number w ill be completed as dialed for the period between September 1 and December 31,1984. Beginning on Janu ary 1,1985, calls made between area codes 212 and 718 be dialed correctly, or users will reach a recording. When calling Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island over the LINCS network from anywhere other than Manhattan or the Bronx, you should dial 7 + authorization code +718 +seven digit telephone number. To call Manhattan and the Bronx over the LINCS network, continue to dial 7 +authorization code +212 +seven digit telephone number. If you have any questions or problems, call Joyce Bat son, X213.
