(b) JOURNEYMAN. A s k i l l e d b u tc h e r workman who has e i t h e r serv ed a com p le te a p p r e n t ic e s h ip in h i s t ra d e o r has d ev e lop ed e q u iv a le n t a b i l i t y by p r a c t i c a l e x p e r ie n c e and i s c a p a b le o f c u t t in g and p rep a r in g meat in forms a c c e p t a b le t o th e R e t a i l Trade and in a manner th a t w i l l y i e l d th e maximum o f p r o f i t a b l e c u ts from a c a r c a s s . ARTICLE I I I - UNION SHOP CLAUSE A l l em ployees c o v e re d by t h i s Agreement s h a l l , as a c o n d i t i o n o f employment, become members o f th e Union on th e t h i r t i e t h day f o l l o w in g th e b e g in n in g o f such employment o r th e e x e c u t io n d a te o f t h is Agreement, w hichever i s the l a t e r , and s h a l l t h e r e a f t e r m aintain t h e i r membership in th e Union in good s ta n d in g . Any em ployee who i s e x p e l l e d o r suspended from th e Union becau se o f non-payment o f i n i t i a t i o n f e e s and dues ( in c lu d in g such o th e r o b l i g a t i o n s t o th e U nion , f a i l u r e t o pay which would make an employee s u b je c t t o d is c h a r g e under th e Labor-Management R e la t io n s A c t , 1947) s h a l l b e s u b je c t t o d i s m is s a l a f t e r n o t i f i c a t i o n in w r it in g t o the Employer by the Union, p r o v id e d , how ever, th a t the employee may have a r e a s o n a b le tim e w ith in which t o make such payments o f i n i t i a t i o n f e e s o r d u es , th e f a i l u r e o f payment o f which has caused the e x p u ls io n o r s u sp e n s io n . ARTICLE IV - CHECK-OFF The Employer agrees th a t i t w i l l deduct re g u la r p e r i o d i c Union dues from the pay o f each f u l l - t i m e em ployee who, in w r i t in g in a ccord a n ce w ith law , v o l u n t a r i l y a u th o r iz e s the Employer to do s o . Such d e d u ct io n s s h a l l be made on e i t h e r a w eekly o r m onthly b a s i s , and the t o t a l amount so ded u cted s h a l l be p a id o v e r t o the S e c r e ta r y - T rea su rer o f the e m p lo y e e 's r e s p e c t i v e l o c a l u n io n . With r e s p e c t to p a r t - t im e em ployees c o v e re d by the Agreement between the p a r t i e s , the Employer w i l l deduct r e g u la r p e r i o d i c monthly o r w eekly dues in the amount as a u th o r iz e d by the p a r t - t im e employees and summer p a r t - t im e em ployees f o r each week worked by such p a r t - t im e em ployee who, in w r i t in g in a cco rd a n ce w ith law , v o lu n t a r i ly a u th o r iz e s the Employer to do s o . (b ) The Employer w i l l pay th e premiums t o p r o v id e f o r f u l l - t i m e em ployees ' h o s p i t a l i z a t i o n by expanded B lu e C ro ss , and m e d ica l and s u r g i c a l b e n e f i t s in c lu d in g Family D o c to r Plan - A n aesth esia c o v e r a g e , and such a d d i t i o n a l b e n e f i t s as p r o v id e d by the expanded Group H ealth Insuran ce P lan . The expanded B lue C ross c o v e ra g e s h a l l p r o v id e seven ty (70) f u l l days and one hundred e ig h ty (1 8 0 ) h a l f days o f h o s p i t a l i z a t i o n pursuant t o the terms o f th e p o l i c y . The monthly payments s h a l l b e equal on a p er c a p i t a b a s i s f o r f u l l - t i m e em ployees c o v e re d by t h i s Agreement t o th e monthly c o s t per f u l l - t i m e em ployee o f the O p t i c a l Plan p r o v id e d by the Company f o r f u l l - t i m e em ployees in the B ron x , B rook lyn and Garden C ity u n its through the Union O p t ic a l P la n , I n c . , and s h a l l at no tim e exceed such c o s t .
