Salary A. Salary for each position shall be as stated in the annual salary agreement. B. Self-improvement and in-service course work shall be factors in determining the annual salary for each position and included as a component of the annual evaluation. 111. Fringe Benefit Days Personal Sick Leave Each non-aligned staff member shall accumulate an unlimited number of sick days at an annual rate as follows: a twelve-month employee shall be eligible for the current year's fifteen (15) sick days as of July 1, fourteen (14) sick days shall be granted to eleven-month employees, and thirteen (13) days shall be granted to ten-month employees. Bereavement Leave Each non-aligned staff member shall be eligible for not more than three (3) non-cumulative bereavement days to be taken for each death of a family member. C. ~amilyI llness Leave 1. Each non-aligned staff member shall be eligible for not more than two ( 2 ) non-cumulative days per year. These days shall apply to illness of any person living in the same residence as employee during the entire year. 2. In unusual circumstance, extensions to the above may be granted by the Superintendent or his designee, but such extensions will be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick leave. Personal Leave Each non-aligned staff member shall be eligible for not more than four (4) personal days which are non-cumulative and which are intended for use if appointments are required (legal, medical, dental) which cannot be arranged outside of working time and which require at least one-half day. The purpose should be described and application made to the immediate supervisor in advance, in writing. Unused leave shall be accumulated to the employee's sick leave on July 1 of each year. E. Emergency Leave When unusual emergency-type leaves with extenuating circumstances are required, it shall be discretionary with the Superintendent of Schools to approve absence without loss of pay for such emergency days (not to exceed five (5) days) as required upon written petition from the employee with the recommendation of the immediate supervisors. (All other applicable fringe benefit days should first be exhausted . ) F. Jury Duty For each day served on Jury Duty, each non-aligned staff member shall be paid at his/her regular rate by the District. G. Leave of Absence An extended leave of absence without pay may be granted a non- aligned staff member with permanent Civil Service status by the Board of Education in its sole discretion. Such a request shall be made in writing to the immediate supervisor for submission to the Board of Education. H. Vacation Days - 12 Month Staff 1. Each full-time, twelve month (12) non-aligned staff member with five ( 5 ) or less years of District service, shall be eligible for ten days of vacation leave to be taken on a schedule approved by the immediate supervisor. 2. Fifteen (15) vacations leave days will be provided for each twelve-month non-aligned staff member with six (6) or more years of District service. 3. Twenty (20) vacation leave days shall be provided for each twelve-month non-aligned staff member with fourteen (14) or more years of District service. 4. Vacation leave may be taken in the current year of accrual or the year following accrual, but may not be carried over longer than August 31 of the year following accrual. I. Vacation Days - 11 Month Staff 1. Each full-time, eleven month (11) non-aligned staff member with five (5) or less years of District service, shall be eligible for nine days of vacation leave to be taken on a schedule approved by the immediate supervisor. 2. Fourteen (14) vacation leave days will be provided for each eleven-month non-aligned staff member with six (6) or more years of District service. 3. Eighteen (18) vacation leave days will be provided for each eleven-month non-aligned staff member with fourteen (14) or more years of District service. 4. Vacation leave may be taken in the current year of accrual or the year following accrual, but may not be carried over longer than August 31 of the year following accrual. J. Holidays All non-aligned staff members shall be entitled to thirteen (13) paid holidays identified on a calendar of holidays as adopted by the Board of Education for each fiscal year. Each non-aligned staff member shall be paid at his/her daily rate for these holidays. IV. Health and Dental Insurance A.The District shall participate in insurance premium costs by contributing 90% of the premium regardless of the category of coverage selected. Each eligible employee will be also allowed to participate in the District's Flex Benefits Plan. B.The District shall participate in Dental Insurance premium costs for the District Dental Insurance Group Plan at a rate up to $200 for single coverage and $400 for family coverage for each enrolled and participating non-aligned staff member. V. Retirement Benefits For all employees who become eligible to retire under the TRS or the ERS, a non-aligned staff member shall be entitled to: 1. Payment by the District toward the cost of District Health Insurance at 90% of premium cost for a period of ten-years. If the employee has at least 20 years of service with the District, the District will pay 90% of premium cost for 15 years. 2. A cash payment computed at the rate of $30.00 per day of unused accumulated full-pay sick leave. V I . H e a l t h Insurance B u y Out / B u y Down Non-aligned staff members who have been enrolled for at least one year in any of the health insurance plans offered by the district may elect to reduce or decline coverage and receive a financial consideration as outlined below. This option is not suggested for individuals whose sole health insurance protection is provided by the district. Only those individuals who have access to alternative health insurance should consider this option. Elections and Continuing Election Forms must be submitted to the Human Resources Off ice on or before September 3oth of each school year for an effective date of October lSt to receive the financial incentive. A. Buy Out Incentive (Declination of Coverage) ~ndividualC overage $1,000 Individual +1 Coverage $1,500 Family Coverage $1,750 B. Buy Down Incentive (Decrease of Coverage) Family Coverage to Individual +1 $ 600 Family Coverage to Individual $1,200 Individual +1 to Individual $ 600 Time Spent on unpaid leave of absence shall be deducted from the period of time worked for the purpose of pro-rating the incentive. V I I . Miscellaneous A . Retirement Plan The District will participate in the New York State and Local Employees Retirement System plan then in effect at the rate established by appropriate Legislative action and non-aligned staff member shall be eligible for same. Conference and Workshop Attendance Conference and workshop attendance on regularly scheduled work days shall be considered work days. Days which are not scheduled work days shall not receive compensation or compensatory time. Office Closings On any day declared an emergency snow closing, offices shall be considered closed unless by 12:00 noon of that day a non-aligned staff member's immediate supervisor has requested that he/she report to work. Eleven-month School Bus Dispatcher will be required to take 23 days off during the 2005/2006 school year (November 29, 2005 - December 30, 2005) to accommodate the 238 days per school year (11 Month) schedule.
