For the past 25 years he has been assistant professor adjunct at the University of Denver where he teaches Perspectives in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Fitzgerald writes monthly columns for the American Kennel Club Gazette, American Kennel Club Family Dog magazine and Police Dog magazine and has written chapters in medical texts on subjects such as emergency veterinarian medicine, toxicology, and reptile medicine and surgery. Since 2003 he has hosted a weekly television segment, “Animal House” on Denver’s morning news, and perhaps best known for his 10 seasons on the popular Animal Planet TV show Emergency Vets. In 2006, Kevin was incredibly honored by the opportunity to pay tribute to his friend and colleague, Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) at the 8th Annual Family Viewers Awards by presenting Steve’s wife Terri with a posthumous lifetime achievement award for her husband. Earlier that year Kevin had appeared as a guest on Steve’s show New Breed Vets on Animal Planet. Despite maintaining a busy practice at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, Kevin performs to rave reviews at nearly one hundred corporate and fundraising events annually. He believes it is a great privilege to be in a position where he is able to pursue a dual career doing work that he truly enjoys. As a comedian, Kevin has opened for such diverse and legendary performers as Bob Hope, Diana Ross, The Temptations, and The Neville Brothers. The maximum CE credit per person is 22 hours. The breakdown of hours per day are as follows: Friday - 8; Saturday - 8; and Sunday - 6. New York State Continuing Education Credit The NYSVMS and Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine are approved New York State continuing education sponsors. Veterinary technicians may only receive CE credit for classes that are within their scope of practice as defined by the NYS Board for Veterinary Medicine. Classes approved for credit for veterinary technicians are listed in purple on the schedule. Registry of Approved Continuing Education Credit (RACE) This conference has been submitted (approval pending) for a total of 87 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions that recognize AAVSB RACE approval. Participants should be aware that some state veterinary boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on methods of delivery of continuing education. Continuing Education Certificate Procedure for NYS and RACE Verify your attendance at the conference by signing-in at the registration desk when you pick up your badge and conference materials. You will only need to sign-in once. A CE tracking form will be provided with each conference program book. The Certificate of Attendance will be emailed after the conference. If you are selected for a random audit by the NYS Board for Veterinary Medicine this will serve as proof that you satisfied the mandatory continuing education requirements. Each individual is responsible for maintaining personal records of continuing education for six years from the date of the course. To receive CE credit, a one-time sign-in is required at check-in.
