No METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION Literature review based on Web of Science search performed on 14 August 2022 for literature published between 1928 and 2022. Studies were screened using covidence (Veritas Health Innovation, 2022) by two assessors working independently to identify those that addressed disease processes affecting tigers in captivity or the wild. In vitro research that investigated pathogens obtained from tigers, or where results could be applied directly to tigers were considered relevant and included for a full text review. Similarly, in silica studies that addressed disease in tigers were considered relevant and included for a full text review. Where discrepancies occurred between the assessors, these were discussed until resolution was reached.   Reasons for excluding studies from full text review included: 1. Studies describing a diagnostic technique (unless they reported test results that related to disease in tigers). 2. Studies that reported normal biochemistry or hematology parameters. 3. Studies that described the microbiome of tigers (unless they referred to disease implications of identified agents). 4. Studies that addressed welfare or stress responses in tigers. 5. Studies that addressed the disease of prey species (unless the pathogen involved directly impacted tigers). 6. Studies that described mortality of tigers related to deliberate persecution or hunting of tigers.
