Abstract
Memorial Statement for Professor Walter Long Williams, D.V.M. (1856-1945) who was appointed Professor (1896) of Veterinary Surgery, Obstetrics, Zootechnics and Jurisprudence (1896), Professor (1915) of Veterinary Obstetrics and Research Professor, and Emeritus Professor (1921) at the New York State Veterinary College. He was one of the original six faculty members when the College opened in 1896. In addition to being "an inspiring teacher" with his sixty-five years of clinical and surgical experience, Dr. Williams was known for his leadership in the profession and publications which included numerous articles and several books, "Veterinary Obstetrics" and "Diseases of the Genital Organs of Domestic Animals". The memorial statements contained herein were prepared by the Office of the Dean of the University Faculty of Cornell University to honor its faculty for their service to the university.
