Anal sac adenocarcinoma in a mixed breed dog

Other Titles

Abstract

A 10.5 year old male castrated mixed breed dog was treated at Cornell University Hospital for Animals for anal sac adenocarcinoma. Due to the advanced nature of the disease, and involvement of metastatic nodes with branches of the iliac arteries, surgery and definitive radiation therapy were forgone in lieu of palliative radiation therapy. The patient was then placed on toceranib phosphate (PalladiaTM), anovel tyrosine-kinase inhibitor chemotherapeutic. As of 11 months after treatment, the patient is still alive and has a good quality of life.
