Abstract
An 8 month old female intact bulldog presented to the Cornell University Ophthalmology Service on June 23, 2014 for evaluation of a prolapsed gland of the third eyelid. The prolapsed gland was diagnosed 1.5 months prior to presentation to Cornell University Ophthalmology Service by a refening veterinarian. Upon presentation, a prolapsed gland of the third eyelid was present in the left eye with mild mucopurulent discharge. The patient was visual in both eyes and did not have any obvious signs of ocular pain. At this time, the diagnosis of a prolapsed gland of the third eyelid was confirmed and surgical reposition using the modified Morgan pocket technique was recommended. On June 24,2014, the prolapsed gland of third eyelid was surgically repositioned successfully. The patient presented to their primary care veterinarian for recheck and the prolapsed gland has not been reported to have re-prolapsed. The patient's left eye has returned to normal function.
