Septic meningitis and persistent fever in a calf

Abstract

This is a case report of a 5 day old white Galloway heifer calf who presented with dyspnea, recombency, depression, loss of suckle reflex, and fever. She was diagnosed with septic meningitis and was treated with several antibiotics over the course of 2 months: ampicillin, ceftiofur, oxytetracycline and cefotaxime. She made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital.
