Abstract
Discusses the data related to the location of the royal burials of the Davidic dyansty in Iron Age Judah. Surverys the biblical evidence and examines a series of rock cut chambers at the southern end of the City of David excavated by Raymond Weill in the early 20th c. Based on parallels with rock-cut tombs from the Bronze and early Iron Age in the Levant it is argued that Weill's chambers in their initial use were part of the royal necropolis. Briefly examines the data on the burials of Manasseh and his son Amon in the garden of Uzza and suggests parallels to the Assyrian practice of royal burials inside of palaces.
