Abstract
This fact sheet describes the scientific evidence of whether exposure to the insecticide DDT and its persistent breakdown product DDE pesticide chlordane affects the risk of breast cancer and other cancers. It also includes information on the history of DDT's past use, detection of residues in food and breast milk, current efforts to reduce exposure, ways to minimize exposures, and where more research is needed.
