Abstract
This thesis book is a synthesis of the selected works and research that I pursued as a student at Cornell University in the Master of Science, Advanced Architectural Design program (M.S.AAD). The book includes studio design projects, readings and reflections from elective courses, class discussion topics, and my research. At the beginning of my study, I started with a story that brings us to think about how global warming relates to populations, land, inequality, and architecture. To think about these questions, I share some research with scientific data and ask myself: How can we create awareness of the current situation with our profession, architecture? I revisited the design projects that I’ve done with our talented program classmates and projects that I have done with a smaller group of individuals. Finally, I conclude with my research on two strategies addressing the possible answer to the previous question. For this thesis, I try to think of ways to provide an architectural solution to raise awareness among the general population, which might further develop cross-disciplinary collaboration for proactive design works and activities. Last but not the least, Architecture is not only a shelter; it’s a place for sustainable living and creating a positive impact on the future environment.
