dc.description.abstract | This proposed project builds on work from 2015-2017 to investigate site-based design and planning strategies for Hudson Riverfront communities facing flooding and other climate risks. As a resilience-based approach to climate adaptation, the Climate-adaptive Design studio (CAD) develops physical, ecologically-sensitive design alternatives while engaging project stakeholders to build community awareness and capacity for climate adaptation through a waterfront revitalization visioning process. Much of the work is conducted in an academic studio environment, therefore also offering opportunities for both engaged learning and research benefits. We intend to continue to integrate engineering components, including ongoing partnering with Cornell Soil and Water lab, into this approach to advance strategies for comprehensive climate-adaptive design while providing assistance to partner communities. This proposal is composed of two phases: CAD Studio Kingston III and CAD Program Advancement. | en_US |
