Enhancing Wildlife Habitat: A Practical Guide to Forest Landowners (NRAES 64 - FRONT MATTER ONLY)

Other Titles

Abstract

Wildlife habitat has three main components, cover(shelter), food, and water. Cover, food, and shelter needs vary by wildlife species. The components can also be manipulated, along with other habitat characteristics, to encourage or discourage a wildlife species. By completing the 20 field activities in this book, you will become familiar with the wildlife, habitat potential, and other characteristics of your property. Then, after reviewing the habitat requirements for 25 upland and wetland species in this book, you can develop a plan to enhance the property to encourage the wildlife you desire. Includes in-depth information on wildlife ecology, wildlife habitats, and habitats for American woodcock, ruffed grouse, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey. Additional information on rabbits, chipmunks, woodchucks, songbirds, woodpeckers, ducks, herons, and much more. Contains 80 black and white photos, 30 illustrations, and a glossary. DUE TO OUSTANDING COPYRIGHT ISSUES OR CLEARLY IDENTIFIED OUT-OF-DATE PRACTICES (E.G. SAFETY CONCERNS), ONLY THE FRONT MATTER (E.G. COVER, ToC, ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS, ETC) ARE PROVIDED HERE AT THIS TIME.
