| dc.description.abstract | [Excerpt] We have been studying the impact of PFL on California employers and workers since the bill creating the new program was signed into law in late 2002. In this book we report on the results of extensive survey research and fieldwork that we have conducted over the past decade, analyzing the ways in which the state's PFL program has benefited both workers and employers in the nation's most populous state, as well as the limitations of the program. We also explore some of the lessons that can be learned from California's pioneering PFL program—lessons that should be helpful not only to the many other states currently considering similar programs but also to the future development of family leave policies for the nation as a whole. | |
