The seminal U.S. air quality statute, the Clean Air Act (CAA), authorized the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to protect public health and welfare by establishing National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and regulating Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs).
