Nutrient Management: Crop Production and Water Quality (NRAES 101 - FRONT MATTER ONLY)

Other Titles
Abstract
Nutrient Management: Crop Production and Water Quality by Stu Klausner is the first completed document in the Cornell University Whole Farm Planning Program series. This series of documents represents the scientific basis for the New York City Watershed Whole Farm Planning Program. In partnership with the Watershed Agricultural Council, Inc., Cornell is sharing its research through peer reviewed publications. Earlier versions of Nutrient Management: Crop Production and Water Quality appeared in the early 1980s. At that time there was little interest in integrating nutrient management with economic and environmental considerations. As interest grew, this early work served as the basis for program development in nutrient management in New York and other states. This present version and two companion workbooks, Estimating A Mass Nutrient Balance and Nutrient Management Workbook (see inside front cover for more information), have been well received. These publications serve as the technical base for the Pro-Dairy nutrient management course and for watershed nutrient management planning across New York State. The approach taken, and much of the information, is applicable to other regions in the United States. Computer software is available to enhance its use (see inside cover for more information). This series of nutrient management publications has been peer reviewed under the auspices of the Northeast Regional Agricultural Engineering Service, as well as by campus faculty and regional extension specialists. DUE TO OUSTANDING COPYRIGHT ISSUES OR CLEARLY IDENTIFIED OUT-OF-DATE PRACTICES (E.G. SAFETY CONCERNS), ONLY THE FRONT MATTER (E.G. COVER, ToC, ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS, ETC) ARE PROVIDED HERE AT THIS TIME. Description
This 48 page publication (NRAES-101) was originally published by the Northeast Regional Agricultural Engineering Service (NRAES, later known as the Natural Resource, Agriculture, and Engineering Service), a multi-university program in the Northeast US disbanded in 2011. Plant and Life Sciences Publishing (PALS) was subsequently formed to manage the NRAES catalog. Ceasing operations in 2018, PALS was a program of the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University. PALS assisted university faculty in publishing, marketing and distributing books for small farmers, gardeners, land owners, workshops, college courses, and consumers.
