Abstract
This study investigated the effects of emotional ambiguity and reward on memory recall. Participants were exposed to emotionally ambiguous stimuli and assigned different reward values, and a word recall test assessed their memory recall. Results indicate that emotional ambiguity had a significant effect on memory recall, indicating that emotional ambiguity significantly affected participants' ability to remember information accurately. Additionally, a significant effect of reward value on memory recall was observed, indicating that items with high-value rewards were easier to recall for the participants than items with low-value rewards. Interestingly, a significant interaction between emotional ambiguity and reward was found, suggesting that the combined effects of emotional ambiguity and reward value had different effects on memory recall. Participants in the low emotional ambiguity group exhibited significantly higher memory recall scores under low reward items compared to those in the high emotional ambiguity group, while participants in the high reward group showed significantly higher memory recall scores under low emotional ambiguity items compared to those in the low reward group. These findings highlight the complex interplay between emotional ambiguity, reward, and memory recall, providing valuable insights into the underlying cognitive processes.
