The Proprietary Model: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

Other Titles

Abstract

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine was opened as a private veterinary college on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts in 1983. Demographics of its faculty, students and graduates are given. Establishing a proprietary institution outside of a major university setting without either a comprehensive academic teaching hospital or a robust research program seemed an anathema to the core educational values of many, but this school has clearly succeeded in fulfilling its initial goals and filling a void.
