Abstract

I have organized my exploration of Architecture + Ecology into two parts. The first part explores the use of local materials and construction techniques for creating particular atmospheres in the context. It investigates how to take local materials and natural environments into designing our own building. In this way, architecture would be able to interact with the surrounding environment via light, wind, local materials, and characteristic elements. They can be anchored in this specific site, and gradually become part of the context. The second part, which is about tectonics, focuses on integrating ideas into construction. It examines on how architecture could take advantage of natural elements to magnify the character of the architecture. These two parts are independent but also respond to each other in every way. They are the different phases of integrating architecture into the context. Some of the projects focus more on using local material and architectural elements to become part of a neighborhood. The other focuses more on utilizing elements like time, ventilation, and light.
