Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: A report from Field Research in Thailand

Author
Kompipote, Ubon
Abstract
This study explores sexual harassment, including violent abuse and discrimination, in export industries in Thailand. The research is comprised of a survey of 100 factory workers from ten export industries. The study concludes that except for extreme instances of violent abuse the factories do not penalize harassers. Researchers recommend that there needs to be better accountability and retribution for those who commit acts of sexual abuse in the workplace, often male supervisors.
