Abstract
The CUL Tattle-tape Task Force was charged with investigating the potential ramifications of discontinuing adding security strips (“tattle-tape”) to new open stack acquisitions. The motivation for the change is primarily to save money, but additional benefits are a reduction in risk of repetitive motion strain for staff who apply the strips and potentially improved patron experience. Our group looked at this issue from multiple perspectives, including understanding CUL current and historical practices, soliciting feedback from CUL stakeholders about their perceptions of a change in policy, and surveying peer libraries about their security stripping policies.
