dc.description.abstractThis dissertation consists of three chapters that apply state-of-the-art quantitative optimization methods and econometric techniques to analyze relevant, timely, and important questions in the areas of agribusiness economics and agribusiness management. The first chapter studies a farm manager’s optimal decision to control an invasive species. The second chapter examines the spatial efficiency of the U.S. broccoli market via a spatial price analysis approach. The third chapter tests the impact of information about product origin on consumer willingness to pay and quality evaluation of three broccoli varieties. This dissertation can help inform stakeholders’ decisions concerning food production, distribution, and marketing problems.
