Abstract

Thermography as an aid in the diagnosis of equine lameness

The four year old 550 kg chestnut thoroughbred gelding, Cut's Brother, was presented to the Rochester Equine Clinic with a three month history of abnormal gait in the hind limbs. The horse was raced as a two year old then retired for pleasure riding. It was schooled lightly for 15 months. An abnormal hind limb gait developed when the horse began dressage training in deep sand footing. The horse traveled closely behind with short strides at a trot, and at rest would frequently rest the right hind limb. There was no progression of signs.
