There is an increasing need in industry for engineers who not only have expertise in a particular engineering discipline, but who also possess diverse interdisciplinary skills.
At Cornell, we have aligned five of the world's most renowned engineering departments to create a Systems Engineering Program of unprecedented strength. This forms the core of our interdisciplinary approach, but our program is influenced by a host of additional fields within the College of Engineering and throughout the University.

An Adaptive Workflow to Generate Street Network and Amenity Allocation for Walkable Neighborhood Design
Yang, Yang; Samaranayake, Samitha; Dogan, Timur (Proceedings of the Symposium on Simulation for Architecture and Urban Design 2020, 2020-05)This paper proposes a novel generative workflow for walkable neighborhood design. Key components of the workflow include automating the process of parsing the map data, building contextual models with population and amenity ... -
NONLINEAR OPTIMIZATION FOR PROJECT SCHEDULING AND RESOURCE ALLOCATION UNDER UNCERTAINTY
Mahmoudoff, Ali (Cornell University, 2006-08)Project planning and scheduling when there are both resource constraints and uncertainty in task durations is an important and complex problem. There is a long history of work on deterministic resource-constrained project ...
