Abstract
Globally, women and girls face a disproportionate burden of unpaid care and domestic work. This burden is especially felt in rural areas that agriculture and women's economic empowerment projects operate in. Time use is a determinant of overall well- being and the right to reasonable work hours, leisure and rest is a human right. Development projects have a responsibility to at a minimum do no harm. This document summarizes the literature on gender-responsive and gender-transformative practitioner approaches as well as guidance for integrating time use considerations into monitoring and evaluation efforts.
