"Lucky", a nine year old, male, castrated Terrier mix presented to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals on April 22nd, 2003 with the chief complaint of a seizure disorder of four weeks duration. Lucky had no significant previous medical history. General physical examination was unremarkable, however neurological examination yielded a problem list of dull mentation, no menace response OD, circling to the left, and postural reaction deficits in both right limbs. A CT scan of the brain revealed an extramedullary mass overlying the left cerebrum. Surgical removal of the mass was performed and histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of a meningioma. The primary objectives of this case study were to discuss differential diagnoses that should be considered for dogs that present with a history of seizure activity, and to briefly review characteristics of canine meningiomas.
