Abstract
Corneal lesions can be treated medically, surgically, or both, depending on the etiology and extent of the lesion, and the clinician's expertise. This report focuses on the different types of protective and supportive surgical approaches used in management of corneal lesions, and includes a discussion of indications for five different types of surgery. The repair of a corneal laceration in a 10 year old alpaca is used as an example of a combination of two different types of surgical management, as well as medical treatment used for resolution of a traumatic corneal lesion.
