Abstract

Describes in detail each architectural feature found at Tell en-Nasbeh (biblical Mizpah of Benjamin) exclusive of tombs in the surrounding extramural cemeteries. Proposes a new stratigraphic system to that established in the original 1947 site report: Stratum 5 = Early Bronze Age I, Stratum 4 = Iron Age I, Stratum 3A-C = Iron Age II, Stratum 2 = Neo-Babylonian-Persian Period and Stratum 1 = all remains Hellenistic and later. Provides synthetic discussions of the site's fortifications, road system, agricultural installations, problems with the previous stratigraphic system and more. Extensive illustrations, both photographs and drawings. Extensive indexes of all features, records and main topics.
