[Excerpt] As the country’s largest exporting industry, Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector is of enormous significance to the country’s economic development. Recognizing the need for continued improvements in labor rights protections in the RMG sector, as well as the export-oriented shrimp sector, USAID has undertaken an assessment of stakeholder needs and is providing recommendations for strengthening existing programming. These recommendations will support the development of new programs to promote labor rights compliance.
