Abstract

Yiyun Li, Professor of English, UC Davis - Dear Friend, from My Life I Write to You in Your Life, the first nonfiction book by novelist and short story writer Yiyun Li, explores a life lived in reading and writing, with a writer's relationship with her mother country and mother tongue as a reoccurring theme. This talk is a writer's reflection on the decisions to migrate from one country to another, from one language to another, and from one profession to another.
