Abstract

This professional report includes a final report to the City of Ithaca on recommendations for short-term rental regulations in the City and elections on the process of writing the report and presenting my recommendations to City council people. The report begins with an overview of my goals and process of working with the City Planning Department and describes my background research and also how I wove design thinking concepts into my process. I then include a full version of my report and presentation to the City, which includes a background on short-term rentals in Ithaca, a summary of the City’s policy goals, a survey of common policy options, and finally my recommendations for the City.
