Abstract

Biophilic design, along with interactive technologies, are trends in the design of learning spaces. Both have been shown to positively affect students' balanced emotions between excitement and relaxation. However, the combined effect of biophilic design and interactive features is under-researched. This study found that the learning space featuring both mid-high complexity and order design with interactive virtual features creates an information-surplus environment, negatively impacting students' balanced emotion between relaxation and excitement. There was no consensus among students about achieving a better balance of emotion in learning spaces with low complexity and order design with virtual interaction compared to settings with only low or mid-high complexity and order design. The disagreement between findings from this study's findings and previous literature highlights the need for further research.
