Abstract

Primary methods of manure treatment to produce energy include direct combustion of dried manure and controlled anaerobic digestion to convert manure volatile solids into methane. Additional advanced treatment technologies to extract energy from manure are reviewed and compared, including gasification, pyrolysis, and hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL).
