A five year-old spayed Pomeranian presented to Cornell University Hospital for Animals’ Soft Tissue Surgery Service on October 15th, 2013, for presumptive chronic airway collapse of three years’ duration. The patient’s primary veterinarian first noted her clinical signs on a routine visit in 2010, which were marked by intensifying dyspnea, tachypnea and stertor, and by intermittent coughing episodes of increasing frequency and severity. The condition had proven refractory to medical management with antitussives and corticosteroids, and the patient was subsequently referred to CUHA for further evaluation and surgical intervention.
