The process of transformation is manifold; the physical can at times yield and entangle with the metaphorical, metaphysical and spiritual. In my predominantly sculptural practice, the interplay between the materials and the content lends itself to evocative encounters with the haptic — when we touch matter, we are invariably being touched by it. The notion of contact between seemingly disparate and paradoxical notions or states is explored through the poetics of sculptural forms orchestrated in space. My artistic process is centered on a search to harmonize a tenuous equilibrium between the precarious and the edified; light in concert with shadows, weight in balance with lightness, the industrial courting the natural, the scientific espousing the sublime, the human in communion with the beyond-human, beings disarmed and homogenizing by the agency of matter — energy in dialogue with its hybrid selves.
