Abstract

Social media marketing tools and strategies can be implemented to ‘hack’ popular social media algorithms in order to give our patrons the content that they want to see. Implementing real photos and video into our social media feed has improved engagement. While the TikTok algorithm is generally unpredictable, conventions typically associated with the app can be cross-promoted and reshared to more traditional platforms for improved content interactions within a more specific target audience base. We will analyze Funk and other institutions to evaluate how they effectively incorporate STEM into their social media and share experience mentoring graduate assistants (GA) in an academic library setting.
