Abstract

The economy of Mongolia has grown rapidly in the last ten to fifteen years. This has resulted in significant changes in the labor market, including demands for different skills. At the same time, skills mismatch has become one of the major challenges to overcome when creating employment opportunities and growing economic sectors that are priorities for Mongolia. With increasing urbanization and the government focusing on implementing major economic development projects in the near term, skill mismatch is becoming a more pressing issue. This research paper is dedicated to analyzing the context of the skill mismatch issue to determine skill mismatch characteristics of the Mongolian labor market that I consider essential for any future education and employment strategies for the country. In fact, skill mismatch is a concerning issue in many other developed and developing economies. This capstone project paper aims to assess Mongolia's "Education sector mid-term Development Plan 2021-2030" based on the result of the primary survey.
