Abstract

This information bulletin discusses how harvest dates affect apple quality, how to forecast and verify harvest windows, picking, and segregating lots for long-term CA storage. Full-color plates show how to use and interpret the starch-iodine test for determining maturity and the best harvest dates for quality. McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Delicious, Mutsu/Crispin, and Idared varieties are covered. Dates for other varieties can be interpreted from the information presented.
