The triple pelvic osteotomy procedure has been performed in immature dogs diagnosed with hip dysplasia in the absence of degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, however, this procedure has been documented to have a high risk of complications. Implant failure and migration are common complications as well as damage to a variety of nerves including the sciatic. The purpose of this seminar is to evaluate a particular case of post-operative sciatic nerve damage. It will describe the clinical presentation, discuss the anatomy of the sciatic nerve and classify nerve damage. It will also guide the reader through the rehabilitation process including establishing goals, developing therapeutic exercises, utilizing customized orthosis, and selecting appropriate alternative modalities all aimed at improvement of functional gait.
