Abstract

Hooks challenges the intellectual commodification of racial issues and gender issues, stressing the destructive nature of scholarly discourse to those who are oppressed. She finds that white intellectuals, fearful of disempowerment, tend to incorporate challenging issues into intellectual discourse to blur the relationship between races.
