Abstract

A major study to identify who owns the privately held land in the United States has just been completed by the USDA. Preliminary results from their national survey of 37,000 individuals, partnerships, and corporations was released in September 1979. This report summarizes some of these data with special emphasis on how the results for the Northeastern States conform and differ from those for the country as a whole.
