Abstract

[Excerpt] Sometimes it’s what we think we know that isn’t so that creates havoc. Take diversity for instance. To what extent do folks really think – despite years of evidence to the contrary – that organizing employees into demographically diverse teams – e.g., teams that include a mix of genders and/or races and/or ethnicities and/or ages, etc. – is a sure-fire path to team creativity? How, if at all, does this belief raise red flags about team staffing, team assignments to tasks, or even team outputs? What are the organizational implications?
