Abstract

Cows harvest their own forages-daily-for a good portion of the year on a grazing dairy. This simple fact introduces new factors that influence profitability, as well as making certain management decisions more difficult than on a conventional farm. This paper will discuss the high points of pasture management and forage preservation, nutrition, and other interesting factors affecting cow health and profitability on the grazing dairy.
