In the past few years there has been a major research and extension effort in enterprise analysis and organization at Cornell University. Enterprise analysis is a means of examining a farming operation by intensively looking at its parts and how the combination of those parts impacts on profitability. On a cash crop farm, the parts examined the different crop enterprises grown. Using enterprise analysis, farm managers can find the weak links or enterprises in their operation and determine crop enterprise combinations which would be more profitable given the labor, field machinery and land resources available.
