DigiMilch: Digitalization of the milk production process chain
We work with 21 commercial dairy farms collecting data and connecting farmers with manufacturers to improve user experience of digital technology on dairy farms. The experimental field DigiMilch is one of fourteen digital experimental fields in Ger- many. The idea for the experimental field resulted from the need for an integrated, in- terdisciplinary project, where different working areas of a commercial dairy farm can be investigated from the point of view of digitisation. The project is divided into five individual use cases: management of agricultural fertilizer, sensor-based yield deter- mination, feeding management, interconnected barn technology and interconnected individual animal sensor-systems. The objective of the project is to demonstrate digital technology on commercial dairy farms, to evaluate such technology for on-farm use, to encourage innovation in the sector by collaborating with farmers and manufactu- rers on improving digital products and finally to transfer knowledge from the project to different audiences. The demonstration projects collect data from about 22 commercial dairy farms and 4 research farms in Bavaria and collaborate with over 20 different sof- tware and machine manufacturers.
