Effective January 1st, 2022 New York State will implement new legislative guidance on food waste recycling – The Food Donation and Food Scrap Recycling Law. Businesses that qualify are those that produce more than two tons of food waste per week on average and are within a 25-mile radius of an organic’s recycler. This fact sheet will help with understanding which New York businesses qualify and what requirements must be met if a business qualifies.
