Research & Assessment Unit is a department within the Administrative Services Division of Cornell University Library. Research and Assessment Unit (RAU) assembles and assesses data to report on Library performance and to provide evidence and context for Library priority-setting and decision making. RAU provides four categories of services in support of high-priority, high-impact Library initiatives:

• Report library performance statistics: RAU commissions data from unit providers and produces reports
• Conduct research projects: RAU conducts in-depth literature reviews and applies other research techniques to produce topic-specific environmental scan reports
• Conduct assessment projects: RAU designs surveys, focus groups, and other assessment instruments, administers them, analyzes and reports findings
• Provide short-term consultation: RAU advises CUL projects in research and assessment design, execution, finding analysis, and reporting
