For over thirty years I have worked in non-fiction as a writer, photographer, filmmaker and educator. From 2000 to 2005, I created my first interactive multimedia project, The Dawn At My Back: Memoir of a Black Texas Upbringing, as an experimental memoir. I began using interactive multimedia to be able to experientially connect Dawn's audience to its central theme of racism. I wanted to reveal racism's impact on family relationships through personal stories infused with universal historical and cultural contexts.

Experimenting with traditional and new media combinations, The Dubai Orlando Project employs research, case studies, media design and production to develop a virtual interactive multimedia communication prototype with the production participants being media teachers, students and industry professionals from Orlando Florida U.S.A. and Dubai United Arab Emirates. This project will examine and foster dialogue about visitor destinations and international tourism's impact on these two cities and their citizens.
