DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION Fikrig_etal2020_field_sugar.csv This dataset includes data about each individual mosquito, including collection details, mosquito characteristics, and sugar feeding status. id: unique mosquito id # bag: the aspirator bag number in which a given mosquito was collected on the given date address: each letter code represents a unique address. The actual address is not published in order to preserve property-owner privacy. town: the town in which the mosquito was collected, referred to as site in the paper date: the date on which the mosquito was collected (yyyy-mm-dd) method: the method by which the mosquito was collected (Asp = by aspirator and Hand = by net) collector: the name of the collector who collected the mosquito time_collecting: the amount of time the aspirator was operated, during which time the mosquito was captured. "NA" is reported for all mosquitoes captured by hand net because these were opportunistically captured. time: the time of day, Eastern Standard Time, that the mosquito was captured sex: the sex of the mosquito blood fed: reports whether the mosquito was blood fed. Those with "1" were not analyzed for sugar content because underwent separate blood analysis Mean: the mean fructose concentration ug/ul averaged over 2 replicates Std_Dev: standard deviation of the fructose concentration. The microplate reader output "NA" if one or both replicates read as 0.000 or >0.210. Date_Meas: the date the fructose concentration was measured (yyyy-mm-dd) Plate: the microplate number that the sample was analyzed on a given day tot_sugar: the total sugar contained in each mosquito sample (ug). The ug/ul was multiplied by 425ul (the total number of ul in the extraction supernatant). sugar: binary variable for whether the mosquito contained sugar based on baseline cut offs established with newly eclosed adults collected as pupae in the field (see ÒbaselineÓ dataset). Fikrig_etal2020_flowers.csv This dataset includes data about the flowers on each property by date. address: each letter code represents a unique address (matches the code given in field_sugar). The actual address is not published in order to preserve property-owner privacy. date: date on which the flowers were counted (yyyy-mm-dd) tot_flo: the total number of flowers counted on a property across all morpho species. Keep in mind that counts were capped at 100 per morphospecies and coded as 101. Therefore, any count above 100 does not represent an accurate count of the flower number. flo_cat2j: categorization of flowers into groups with 0-3 or >3 flowers. Fikrig_etal2020_weather.csv This dataset includes data on the temperature and humidity at each site as measured by a HOBO data logger. temp_C: temperature in Celsius rh: relative humidity address: each letter code represents a unique address (matches the code given in field_sugar). This is the address where the HOBO was placed. town: the site where the HOBO was placed. time: the time, Eastern Standard Time, that the temp/rh were measured. date: the date that the temp/rh were measured (yyyy-mm-dd). sat_def: the saturation deficit calculated according to the formula in the paper. Fikrig_etal2020_wing.csv This dataset includes the wing measurements for all of the mosquitoes. id: the unique mosquito ID. Matches the ID provided in field_sugar length_mm: wing length in mm Fikrig_etal2020_baseline.csv This dataset includes data about the fructose content and origin of field-collected pupae that were reared to adulthood in the lab in order to determine baseline fructose levels. Id: unique mosquito ID address: each letter code represents a unique address (matches the code given in field_sugar). This is the address where the baseline pupa was collected. town: the town in which the mosquito was collected, referred to as site in the paper date_col: the date on which the pupa was collected (yyyy-mm-dd) date_ecl: the date on which the pupa eclosed (yyyy-mm-dd) sex: the sex of the mosquito Mean: the mean fructose concentration ug/ul averaged over 2 replicates Std_Dev: standard deviation of the fructose concentration. The microplate reader output NA if one or both replicates read as 0.000 or >0.210. Date_Meas: the date the fructose concentration was measured Plate: the microplate number that the sample was analyzed on a given day Fikrig_etal2020_dig28.csv This dataset includes data collected in digestion experiment conducted at 28C. id: unique mosquito ID number day: day number when mosquito was killed in relation to sugar feeding. Day zero is for baseline, killed prior to sugar feeding. Day one is for mosquitoes killed immediately after sugar feeding. Mean: the mean fructose concentration ug/ul averaged over 2 replicates Std.Dev: standard deviation of the fructose concentration. The microplate reader output NA if one or both replicates read as 0.000 or >0.210. sex: the sex of the mosquito temp: the temperature at which the experiment was conducted in degrees Celsius (28C) Fikrig_etal2020_dig24.csv This dataset includes data collected in digestion experiment conducted at 23.5C. id: unique mosquito ID number day: day number when mosquito was killed in relation to sugar feeding. Day zero is for baseline, killed prior to sugar feeding. Day one is for mosquitoes killed immediately after sugar feeding. Mean: the mean fructose concentration ug/ul averaged over 2 replicates Std.Dev: standard deviation of the fructose concentration. The microplate reader output NA if one or both replicates read as 0.000 or >0.210. sex: the sex of the mosquito temp: the temperature at which the experiment was conducted in degrees Celsius (23.5C)
